Code of Conduct for Caver Hoops
Parents(s) will refrain from coaching from the sidelines in games and in practices. This includes not only your daughter but all players as well. Your well intended remarks may be contrary to the instructions given by her coaches or game officials, leading to confusion, distraction, and conflict. Positive encouragement or cheering is permitted and encouraged.
Parent(s) will not yell at referees, game officials, or coaches involved in the game, before, during or after the game. Let the officials manage the game. If questions arise, let your team’s coach address the situation with officials.
Parent(s) should not yell at, berate, accost, use profanity toward, threaten, make fun of or harm opposing coaches, players, parents, referees or anyone found at the game facility.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco of any kind or nature are not permitted at any games or practices, including parking lots in conjunction with games or practices.
Playing time is not guaranteed. It is earned. Some athletes will play more than others. Decisions are entirely up to the coaches. Coaches will NOT discuss playing time before, during or after a game. When a playing time concern occurs, parents need to teach their daughter the steps needed to discuss the situation:
Step One: Player should make arrangements to discuss the concern with her coach after practice. This meeting would be for just coach and player.
Step Two: If Step One does not resolve the concern satisfactorily, the parent should call the coach and set up a time for the parent, coach and player to meet.
Step Three: After following the first two steps without resolution, the coach, parent and Caver Hoops Director or Assistant Director will meet to help resolve concern.
These meetings, however, do not guarantee there will be an increase in playing time.
Under no circumstances is a parent to approach a coach with a complaint or evaluation of a coaching philosophy before, during or after the game. If you have a problem or concern, contact the coach at a later and more appropriate time. If the arranged meeting with the coach is not satisfactory, a meeting with the parent, Caver Hoops Director or Assistant Director and coach can then take place.
Social Media - Sharing videos and pictures through social media is encouraged and acceptable. These girls work hard and sharing their hard work with family and friends is a great idea. However, we will not tolerate any posts, pictures, videos, etc. that represent poor sportsmanship towards other players, teams, refs, coaches, etc. Parents and girls will be suspended from future games and potentially the season if there are issues.
Any breech of these principles or any other behavior deemed inappropriate will cause the removal of the spectator/parent from the game or practice facility by the game officials or those in charge. Repeated violations will result in the removal of the player and her parent from the program.
